What was the brief

Thomson FM Ltd were required to provide a supporting role during Mobilisation at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) after EMCOR UK were selected, under the CCS framework, to provide total facilities management services across three DSTL sites; Porton Down (Wiltshire), Portsdown West (Hampshire), and Fort Halstead (Kent) and Thomson FM were selected to carry out building services asset surveys in over 700 highly secure, complex buildings.

What did we do

Over a 6-month period our surveying team of 7, collected over 45,000 assets using our Dell tablet PCs with Mobiess Asset Inspector.  The data was transposed into individual building asset registers and also into CAFM upload templates to enable EMCOR to upload the data efficiently

The Outcome

The data was used for populating the EMCOR CAFM system to enable PPMs to be generated and also for provided a 5-year forward maintenance programme.

Client feedback

Thomson FM (TFM) have been utilised by EMCOR UK for over 3 years, predominantly in the area of Asset Survey and Building Inspections. In the period, TFM have undertaken several commissions of varying types, sizes and durations working to our agreed EMCOR UK Specification. The contract contexts have varied significantly from Utility Company facilities, High Security MoD facilities, Corporate Real Estate, single buildings, multi-site portfolios and the like.

Throughout our working relationship, TFM have proven to be a thoroughly professional team, providing competent, knowledgeable and flexible resources appropriate to the scope of works. They have consistently delivered to time and budget and a key feature has been their pro-active and comprehensive communications which have given assurance on project delivery, openly shared challenges and issues arising and driven through resolutions to ensure delivery of key milestones.

As part of our Preferred Supply Chain, they have tendered for all works and demonstrated good value for money and delivered to the agreed scope, whilst also offering ideas and approaches to reduce timescales or improve the quality of service and required outcomes.

TFM have always worked in a collaborative way, taking account of our relationships and contractual arrangements with our end customers and key stakeholders, which all makes for a quality outcome with little financial variation and all expectations met or exceeded.
