Three members of the Thomson FM consultancy team have recently undertaken training and achieved the FDIS (Fire Door Inspection Scheme) Diploma in Fire Doors.
Hard Services Consultant, Heath Taylor commented, “the training provides us with the underpinning knowledge required to provide our clients with sound advice on fire door compliance. It also provides us with increased credibility when commenting and advising on fire door compliance which is a real topical issue in the facilities management industry presently, especially given the recent Building Safety Act 2022.”
Thomson FM can now provide robust advice to clients on fire door compliance, from auditing, life cycle, End of Limitation Defects surveys and PFI hand back perspectives. In addition, our team are able to advise facilities management companies as to whether their current fire door maintenance is sufficient and whether the contractors they employ are providing them with sufficient protection.
Dan Simpson, Hard Services Consultant, who also attained the diploma said, “Just employing a competent fire safety contractor is no longer sufficient. The person instructing the contractor must set out a clear scope, understand any reports and findings from the contractor and also challenge them if required. The team at Thomson FM can do this role on their behalf.”
