Thomson FM Announces Sponsorship of The Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery

Supporting arts, culture and community in Rossendale

Thomson FM is proud to announce its new role as a corporate sponsor of the Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery, reinforcing its commitment to supporting arts and culture across the Rossendale community.

Located in Rawtenstall, The Whitaker is a vibrant, community-focused hub. Originally established in 1902, it is now renowned for its contemporary art exhibitions alongside collections of local history, natural history and distinctive Victorian curiosities. The venue is proudly supported by its patron, Jane Horrocks, best known for her role as ‘Bubbles’ in ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ and her performance in ‘Little Voice’.

Following a £2.2 million redevelopment, The Whitaker has seen a significant rise in popularity, welcoming approximately 40,000 visitors each year, 77% of whom are from the Rossendale area.

Mark Whittaker, General Manager of Thomson FM, commented:

“For many of us who have grown up in the Rossendale Valley, The Whitaker Museum and park hold a special place in our lives. I visited regularly as a child, as have my own children when growing up.

The Whitaker is an important and highly valued cultural hub, with exciting plans for future exhibitions. We are delighted to support its continued success and to be associated with such a vital part of our community.”
