Marks and Spencer remain one of the most instantly recognisable high street brands in the UK and one of the UKs most respected companies. Thomson FM have enjoyed an excellent working relationship with Marks and Spencer and, indeed, Thomson FM was established as a result of the consultancy commission awarded by Marks and Spencer in 2003.
Strategic FM Consultancy
Thomson FM was established in 2003 on the basis of our agreement to provide FM consultancy support to Marks and Spencer (M&S). We worked closely with the FM team within M&S in respect of the implementation of a completely new FM solution including the introduction of a new Facilities Management Agent (FMA) contract along with a number of new maintenance term contracts managed through the FMA function.

We provided consultancy support in respect of the procurement process, performance measurement requirements in respect of the new contracts, business process development, CAFM system population and implementation and interfaces between the CAFM solution and other financial management systems.

Asset Management Consultancy
We worked closely with the Marks and Spencer FM team to develop and implement a robust asset management regime in order to enable the business to establish more accurate life cycle cost capabilities to manage the future asset replacement strategies for their 400 UK stores.

Thomson FM defined the asset management structure to be adopted and created a number of robust asset data collection templates which we then rolled out to a number of providers for them to collect and return the asset data for import to the CAFM solution.

Furthermore, we compiled an asset management procedures document that clearly identified the process for managing asset change scenarios and other asset management processes.
