Central Trains Central Trains
Until the Central Trains franchise was split and awarded to other train operating companies, Thomson FM enjoyed a good working relationship with the Property Department which is demonstrated by the range of consultancy commissions that we were awarded to provide.
Maintenance Term Contracts
Thomson FM managed the procurement of two independent maintenance term contracts (one for the Eastern zone stations and the other for the Western zone) on behalf of Central Trains. Both contracts were procured in compliance with European Union procurement regulations which we also managed on behalf of Central Trains.

Our role was extended beyond the initial scope following a request from Central Trains for us to provide additional consultancy services in respect of managing an asset data collection process for both contracts once the successful contractors had mobilised.

Dilapidations Contract
We were appointed by Central Trains to procure the franchise end dilapidations remedials contract for all 199 station within the Central Trains remit.

Review of Direct Labour Performance
Thomson FM supported Central Trains in respect of their review of the remit, resourcing and scheduling of their directly employed station maintenance team in order to improve their effectiveness in respect of their delivery of planned maintenance, repair and redecorative works at the 199 Central Trains stations.

Our review highlighted a number of areas of concern which were impacting on the ability of the direct labour teams to provide an efficient service to the stations and also provided recommendations with regard to how the remit of the teams and scheduling of station visits could be amended to improve the overall performance of the resource.
